I’ve been working in English Language Teaching for nearly thirty years now. For many years I worked as a teacher and teacher trainer at the Anglo Mexican Cultural Institute in Mexico City. After that I was a Secondary school teacher at an international school.

Nowadays I divide my time between working  as an academic consultant for Macmillan in Europe and Latin America, writing ELT materials and teaching.

For me the best thing about teaching has always been the times when you’ve got the whole class working with you and there’s a real buzz in the air. With children’s classes it can happen quite frequently, and with adults too. With teenagers it’s a bit more difficult, of course - but it does happen sometimes, and it’s really quite remarkable.

In my spare time I’m a self-confessed computer geek. I sometimes spend the whole day lost to the world writing computer code. But I’m a teacher at heart, and I love teaching people who hate computers to enjoy using them.  That’s even more challenging than teaching reluctant adolescents to enjoy their English class!
