Children love puppets! Back to list
Watch an excellent video with ideas on how to use puppets in the classroom.
Puppets are a great way to promote engagement among Pre-primary school children and are an ideal resource for introducing another English speaker in the class.
Jill Leighton, author of Captain Jack, demonstrates some simple techniques for getting children’s attention, asking them questions, introducing or practising new language and getting them to express their feelings. You can watch the video here!
In my Infants and Primary 1 and 2 classes, the children would take it in turns to take the class puppet home and look after it over the weekend. This was considered a real responsibility and parents would often comment on the children speaking to the puppet in English while they were at home!
If you have a special puppet you use in class, tell us about it!
