Get the level right when using graded readers Back to list

Resources for graded readers

For many learners of English, reading will become their main source of language input, whether this is through the texts in their coursebooks or the graded readers they read each year. As they progress in their reading, their knowledge of the language improves considerably and they are better able to cope with writing, spelling, vocabulary, etc. That’s why it’s important to make sure that the level of reading is appropriate to the students’ level so they stay motivated to read.

Once you’ve found the reader(s) you want to use, there are lots of ways to motivate your students to want to read the text. Check out this fantastic booklet for ideas.
