By practising a subset of learning to learn skills, we can become better learners.

When we talk about learning to learn what we really mean is that learning is learnable. By becoming aware of how we learn and practising a subset of learning to learn skills, we can help ourselves to become better learners, not only while at school but for the rest of our lives.

As Gillian Young suggests in her article on learning to learn We cannot predict what our students will need to know for the future, but we can help them apply skills, knowledge and know-how to specific problems and / or new situations.

Watch Gillian Young talk about her ideas for Reflecting on learningOrganising learning andRemembering and recycling vocabulary. There are some great ideas for how to use word cards here.
