‘Pharming’ or pharmacies
A reading text about the use of ‘pharming’, genetically modifying crops to make them produce edible vaccines or pills.
The text describes how recent studies show that therapeutic proteins could be incorporated into the DNA of plants, producing low cost and abundant edible vaccines and pills. The students read the text and work on the language related to genetically modified foods.
